Meet the Dentist Your Kids Will Actually Like
Solea is a CO2 dental laser that replaces the traditional drill and, in most cases, the anesthetic injection that goes with it. The laser works by delivering precise energy to the tooth surface at a wavelength that is absorbed by the tooth's water content, removing decay or reshaping tissue without the pressure, vibration, or heat that a drill produces.
Children experience it differently than adults expect. There is no loud noise. There is no pressure. In most cases, there is nothing that requires numbing at all. The child who walked in bracing for a shot walks out having never received one.

We Get You on the Schedule
New patients are welcome at every age, including infants having their very first visit. If you are coming in for a dental emergency, we offer same-day appointments for all patients, including new ones.
Your Child's First Visit
For infants and young toddlers, the first visit is a lap exam: your child sits in your lap while Dr. Jon examines the teeth and gums. For older children, the visit includes a cleaning, a full exam, and a conversation about what comes next. Either way, you are with your child for the entire appointment. What This Looks Like Compared to a Standard Practice
Wheeler Pediatric Dentistry is a fee-for-service practice. We file claims with all major insurance companies on your behalf so you do not have to manage the paperwork. Most plans reimburse a meaningful portion of the cost, and the remaining out-of-pocket amount per visit is typically modest. Our team will walk you through what to expect with your specific plan before your first appointment.
If Your Child Is Nervous, or Has Special Needs
Tell us before you book. We schedule strategically for kids who need extra time, extra patience, or a different pace. Dr. Jon and the team have more than 20 years of experience with anxious kids, sensory sensitivities, and a wide range of special health care needs. We do not run the same playbook for every child, and we offer a dedicated quiet room as an alternative to our open treatment area when that helps.
