Pediatric Dentistry
Young child being held during a friendly pediatric dental visit

The Woodlands Pediatric Dentist Since 2004.

Dr. Jon Wheeler opened Wheeler Pediatric Dentistry in The Woodlands in 2004, back when the mall had just opened and Market Street was still under construction. Two decades later, he has watched this community grow up around him, and he has watched thousands of its kids grow up in his chair. He has patients now who are bringing their own children in.

That kind of continuity does not happen by accident. It happens when kids actually want to come back.

What Makes Wheeler PD Different

Children Are Our Only Patients

Wheeler Pediatric Dentistry is a specialty practice, which means every member of the team, every piece of equipment, every inch of the office, and every clinical protocol is designed for children. Dr. Jon completed his residency at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital and Children's Medical Center in Dallas. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. This is not a general dentist who sees kids on Tuesdays. This is all we do.

Dr. Jon has two goals for every patient. First: when the reminder arrives that it is time for a dental visit, there is no anxiety in the house. If anything, kids are bugging their parents to go. Second: when they leave home for good, they keep going to the dentist because no one ever gave them a reason not to. Both goals are achievable. We prove it every day.

The Experience

TVs on the Ceiling. A Doctor Who Sings. The Best Socks in The Woodlands.

Yes, we have TVs mounted to the ceiling over the dental chairs. Yes, Dr. Jon has been known to sing while he works. And yes, the socks are a thing. But Dr. Jon will be the first to tell you that anyone can have a flat-screen TV. What sets Wheeler PD apart is the culture.

We run on time. We listen. We make it easy. Parents are invited into the treatment area for every appointment, not waiting in the lobby wondering what is happening. We use Tell-Show-Do with every patient: we explain what is coming, show the instruments before we use them, then proceed at the child's pace. Nothing happens by surprise.

We have learned something important over 20 years: a child's first experience with the dentist shapes every experience after it. We take that seriously.

Board Certification

Board-Certified. Woodlands-Proven.

Dr. Jon Wheeler is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a credential that requires additional training, examinations, and ongoing education beyond dental school. Wheeler Pediatric Dentistry earned 1st Place, Best Pediatric Dentist by the readers of Woodlands Online every year. Dr. Jon has been a Woodlands Online reader favorite since the very first poll in 2009. Both reflect the same thing: a standard of care that The Woodlands has trusted since 2004.
